Peter
F. OSTERTAG Peter, 46, died on June 30th, 2005, as the result of a
tragic bicycling accident that occurred on June 18th. He sustained
severe brain injuries and was cared for at Harborview Hospital in
Seattle for 12 days, but was not able to recover. He was born in
Whitby, Ontario on November 18th, 1958. He graduated from the
University of Waterloo in 1982, ranking first in his electrical
engineering class. He married Patricia (Trish) Rolfs on August 6th,
1983, in Hartford, Wisconsin. Peter and Trish relocated to the Ann
Arbor, Michigan area, where they raised two wonderful children, Mike
(now 16) and Marianne (12) and restored a farmhouse. In 1998, the
family relocated to the Seattle area when Peter was hired by
Microsoft. Peter loved life and was an outdoor enthusiast. He was an
avid trail runner, bicyclist and hiker, and loved spending time in
the mountains, photographing amazing vistas. He was an active member
of the Eastside Runners and was a member of the Washington Trail
Association, the Cascade Bicycle Club, the Nature Conservancy and
the Sierra Club. When Peter wasn't soaking up life with nature and
friends, he enjoyed woodworking, reading and painting water colors.
Peter is survived by his loving parents, Henry and Gerda Ostertag of
Beaverton, Ontario, his brother Fred (Bonnie) Ostertag of Havelock,
Ontario, his loving wife of 21 years and his 2 children. A
Celebration of his Life is being planned for late July in the
Seattle area. Donations can be made to College Bound fund. Please
