If you've arrived here, you're apparently interested in how my training for the NYC marathon progressed. Since the answer to that question varied week-to-week, you can see for yourself by perusing each chapter listed below. The race day journal entry is available here.
I followed Jeff Galloway's program, although I do not belong to one of his marathon training groups - there isn't one in my area. Instead, I followed this program outlined in his fine book Marathon : You Can Do It. I would highly recommend it, as I would Galloway's Book on Running. Other recommended online resources include the Runner's World site - a great source of advice, training tips, and information about running while traveling, the New York City Road Runner's site, and of course the official New York City Marathon site.
At the end of the day, the three most valuable resources you will have are yourself (where the real motivation comes from), your family and friends (who are willing to remind you that you're doing something special), and your running community.
